Who We Are

GN Bio Energy provides project management and technical services to support the development of forest biomass facilities and projects. GN Bio Energy’s project management services include one window facilitation of all aspects of project development including leading discussions and project development in the areas of legal, marketing, financing, technical support and engineering.

Since 2010, GN Bio Energy has been the direct biomass and renewable energy development mechanism for a group of associated companies. GN Bio Energy is owned by Ed Fukushima, President.

Prior to GN Bio Energy’s formalization, GN Bio Energy’s project partners worked as private entities, providing services through associated companies.

In this capacity, GN Bio Energy and its associate companies achieved a number of successes:

  • GN Bio Energy and associates were consultants to Atikokan Renewable Fuels (AR Fuels) for the submission and subsequent award of Ontario’s first forest supply allocation in the province.
  • The groups acted on the same provincial forest allocation competition to support two First Nations in achieving ten-year wood supply agreements from the province to develop wood pellet production facilities.
  • GN Bio Energy and associates prepared the submission for AR Fuels on the supply of solid wood pellet fuel for the conversion of the Ontario Power Generation (OPG) Atikokan Generating Station from coal to biomass fuel. AR Fuels was awarded a ten-year supply agreement with OPG resulting from this submission.

Biomass and Wood Pellet Expertise

GN Bio Energy is the Canadian patent holder of a biomass-derived wood pellet with a recycled carbon binder. This pellet is waterproof and replicates the energy of high-grade coal. The Ontario Ministry of Environment has approved this product for use in industrial open grate furnaces in Ontario. GN Bio Energy has worked on many projects in the USA on this EPA approved product. An associated company to GN Bio Energy assisted in the development of the production equipment for the pellet and automated multiple facilities.

Currently, GN Bio Energy is the project lead for the development of two biomass wood pellet production facilities—along with an associated biomass fueled co-generation facility that is expected to provide electrical power to replace diesel electric power for a remote community. GN Bio Energy has been supporting these projects in completion of the construction-grade engineering and has received RFP submittals for immediate construction.
